How to change image dimensions
Computer or wide screen: the Output dimensions controls are below the crop image. File type, Max file size and the export buttons are in the right-hand panel.
Mobile or narrow screen: tap Dimensions to open the editing dialog with the dimension controls selected. Enter your settings and tap Done to return to the preview and export settings.
- Choose an image from your device, or drag it into the drop area if one is shown on your computer.
- Turn off Auto size and choose Exact size or Fit within, depending on your width and height requirements.
- Enter the dimensions in pixels. Keep Lock aspect ratio enabled when width and height should stay in proportion. If you opened the Dimensions dialog, tap Done when finished.
- Choose the output format and any file-size limit, then preview and download the resized image.
Exact size or Fit within: which should you use?
Exact size is for a required output width and height. Review the crop when changing these values: the selected rectangle can adjust to match the requested proportions.
Fit within treats width and height as maximum dimensions. You can also enter minimum dimensions when your destination requires an acceptable size range.
Image dimensions and file size are different
Width and height describe the number of pixels. KB and MB describe the size of the saved file. A website may require both particular dimensions and a maximum file size.
With Auto size or Fit within, compression may reduce dimensions to meet a file-size target. Exact size keeps the requested dimensions and reports when the file-size limit cannot be met.
